Hallie May Room

Experience the revival of this famous historic landmark, once home to one of the original founders of Belk Department Stores. With every stay, you become a part of this incredible project! Built in 1903, this charming home features large, comfortable bedrooms and baths, spacious areas for touring and relaxation, and inviting porches complete with a swing. The fountain is once again in full operation! Located within walking distance of a vibrant downtown area filled with delightful shops, restaurants, and breweries, your stay also includes special treats from local shops and coffee. Come and enjoy a piece of history!

The Hallie Mae Room boasts a queen-size bed and a dedicated bathroom. Our common areas include a television (located in the library) and a piano (sitting room). Each morning a lovely breakfast from local vendors will be brought in for your refreshment. Water, coffee and tea are readily available around the clock.

No detail is overlooked at this charming and upscale place to stay. We prefer at least a 2-night stay, but occasionally there are 1 night stays available. Check-in is between the hours of 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. Checkout is promptly at 11:00 A.M. Because of the stature of this amazing home and how it was built back in the day, only 18+ years old may stay. Testimonial(s)

“We arrived as guests and left feeling like family. We have never had a host as warm and welcoming as Susan. She gathered farm fresh eggs, local grown fruit and baked goods for our breakfast, which she [catered] to our wishes every morning. Staying in her 120 year old mansion was such a treat. Every room is beautifully decorated yet cozy enough you want to just lounge around. Her place is nestled right on thr edge of town where we could walk to local restaurants, brew pubs, shops and bars. I wish we could have stayed longer, can’t wait till we can plan another trip.”
